Before registration, we'll have to decide on which position within the
registered Executive Committee each of the Steering Committee will bear
(President, Vice-president, Directors).

Membership Committee (Immediate)
Sean Rowley and Barry Bridgeford from the Steering Committee .. and up to two volunteer members.. As
part of our pre-registration planning, details of membership (status,
fees/no fees, etc.) in the registered organization will have to be
determined.

Finance and Registration Committee (Immediate)
Mark Steele and Mark Rubino from the Steering Committee, along with Tom Yates, Chris Ashton and one more volunteer member. As
part of our pre-registration planning .. the registration process,
associated costs, "D&O" insurance, post-registration operating
costs and required income sources will have to be projected.

Website Committee (Immediate)
Laurie March and Barry Bridgeford from the Steering Committee and Dave Gillen, plus another volunteer member.
The majority of content will be generated by other committees, then forwarded for layout, design and online posting. Eventually,
a domain name will have to be acquired, along with shared access to
server space to allow for redundancy of website maintenance.

Publications Committee (Post-registration)
Mark Rubino and Laurie March from the Steering Committee and up to three volunteer members.
The majority of content will be generated by other committees and produced into printed form by this committee.

Fundraising Committee (Immediate)
Mark Steele and Laurie March from the Steering Committee, Alex Perovic, Tom Yates, plus another volunteer member. This
committee will pursue, pre-registration forum-member donations, private
and corporate donations, paying website advertisers and grants .. in
order to cover costs associated with formation, registration,
post-formation operations and individual projects.

Low Impact Committee (Immediate and Post-registration)
Derek Specht from the Steering Committee, along with volunteer members Dale Merkley, Robert Withnell and Neil Miller.
Program 1.1 - Educate backcountry recreationalists about low-impact practices.
Project 1.1.1 - Maintain a Low-impact Practices website section with guidelines and etiquette. (Immediate)
Project 1.1.2 - Produce and distribute pocket-sized low-impact guides to backcountry recreationalists. (Post-registration)

Report & Maintenance Committee (Intermediate and Post-registration)
Mark Rubino, Sean Rowley and Jeffrey McMurtrie from the Steering Committee, plus up to three volunteer members.
Program 1.2 - Encourage backcountry recreationalists to effectively report maintenance needs and improper practices.
Project 1.2.1 - Maintain a report guide reference section on our website. (Intermediate)
Project 1.2.2 - Pursue a system of campsite numbering with the park staff. (Intermediate)
Program 1.3 - Help maintain and repair campsites, boardwalks, docks and other backcountry facilities.
Project 1.3.1 - Establish and conduct a volunteer labour program , co-ordinated under park management. (Post-registration)

Environmental Impact Committee (Post-registration)
Comprised of at least one of the Steering Committee and up to three volunteer members.
Program 2.1 - Educate backcountry recreationalists about backcountry-related environmental issues.
Project 2.1.1 - Maintain a backcountry-related environmental reference section on our website. (Post-registration)
Project 2.1.2 - Produce and distribute pocket-sized
environmental-awareness guides to backcountry recreationalists. (Post-registration)

Footprint - AFA Committee (Immediate & Intermediate)
Barry Bridgeford from the Steering Committee, plus up to three volunteer members.
Program 3.1 - Promote the "Recommendations of the OPB" in "Lightening the Ecological Footprint of Logging".
Project 3.1.1 - Persistent communication to provincial
politicians indicating support for the OPB's recommendations. (Immediate)
Project 3.1.2 - Express support for the OPB's
recommendations by "letters to the editor" and by letters directly to
reporters. (Intermediate)
Project 3.1.3 - Solicit similar communications of support
for the OPB's recommendations from acquaintances and the general
public. (Intermediate)
Project 3.1.4 - Maintain an overview and respond to
Algonquin Forestry Authority's planning and operational activities.

Watchdog Committee (Intermediate & Post-registration)
Derek Specht from the Steering Committee, plus Mike Lindsay and up to two other volunteer members.
Program 4.1 - Advise membership and public of
potential and developing influences and issues that may impact on
backcountry recreational activities. Project
4.1.1 - Maintain a website "News" section , featuring all Algonquin
news developments that may impact on backcountry recreational
activities. (Intermediate)
Project 4.1.2 - After conferring with the Executive
Committee over potential issues that may impact on backcountry
recreational activities, advise membership by a website "Watchdog"
section with formal commentaries and reports. (Post-registration)

Public Action Committee (Post-registration)
Comprised of at least one of the Steering Committee, plus Douglas Fox and up to two other volunteer members.
Program 4.2 - Lobby against influences which can impact negatively on the backcountry of Algonquin Park.
Project 4.2.1 - Issue media releases and organize letter-writing campaigns. (Post-registration)
Program 4.3 - Organize membership activities.
Project 4.3.1 - Contact and co-ordinate members in designated operational activities in the field. (Post-registration)
